This project explores a new technique for bending pine, a rigid, widely available and fast-growing timber. Developed using almost entirely discarded wood from the Royal College of Art, the technique uses a series of triangular cuts filled with angled wedges to control the curvature.
Unlike conventional wood-bending methods, it allows pine to bend in multiple directions, opening up new possibilities for furniture design while creating a distinctive pattern where the wedges meet the wood.
